West Ottawa Public Schools: Definitely Not Old School

When it comes to furniture, educational institutions typically have two very specific needs: practicality and price. Yet for the new West Ottawa High School, a third priority was added to the mix: friendliness to the environment.

Reflecting its strong record of work in educational settings, Interphase was awarded the installation of workstations, seating and student tables for the new building. As the only Michigan furniture dealer led by a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional, Interphase was also prepared to incorporate products and plans that protect the environment and promote good health of the people who use the building. The school is now seeking LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Design features within the building focused on improving comfort and reducing distractions for occupants. West Ottawa used Haworth Premise workstations, Look and Improv seating, X Series files, and Tactics classroom tables, which all provide functionality and high quality.

"In working with Interphase," said West Ottawa Assistant Superintendent Dave Zimmer, "we successfully met all three priorities of practicality, price, and LEED accreditation to build a better learning environment."
